Hohenschwangau Castle

From 1832 to 1836, Crown Prince Maximilian of Bavaria had the dilapidated Schwanstein Castle rebuilt in neo-Gothic style. King Ludwig II not only spent his youth here, but Hohenschwangau Castle also served as his summer residence until his death in 1886.

The former castles are just a stone's throw away from our little town of Eisenberg and together form the largest ruin complex in Bavaria. Both Hohenfreyberg Castle and Eisenberg Castle can be visited free of charge at any time and are freely accessible. During your visit, you can also enjoy the view of the beautiful Alpine foothills.
